There is a fifth dimension

I'm delighted to once again be part of a Josh Glenn “Enthusiasm” series, a creative cattle call for the culturally cockeyed. TUBE YOUR ENTHUSIASM, running daily throughout the month of August, is all about fondly remembered TV shows which originated in the Fifties (1954-63), and of which we ask now, per Josh's series introduction, “What did we find so compelling about these shows when we first encountered them as kids growing up in the Sixties and Seventies? What do we still enjoy about them today?” Here is my little contribution. If you were to submit my collected writings to a computer scan, among the most frequently used words would be “ghost,” “eerie,” “uncanny,” “vanish,” “bizarre,” “inexplicable,” and others on that line ... which alone shows how formative an influence on me this show was.
